READ THE LAST POST BEFORE READING THIS-- Infinite Sea Interview Discussion

So Rick Yancey stated that the "Infinite Sea" was part of a phrase used in the first book.  This was when Cassie was looking for Sammy in the hanger and used "an infinite sea of upturned faces" to describe the crowd of children.  Yancey said that he can't reveal why he used this phrase for the title but I now have two more predictions.

     A) The Others somehow gather a majority of the survivors together... and we all know nothing good will come of that.

     B) The crew finds a large group of survivors who are preparing an assault on the Others.

In both of these situations, Cassie or another character may describe these crowds as an "infinite sea", much like in the first book.

However, I have a much crazier idea, option C:

     C) The Others have been watching humanity for centuries.  It could be very possible that somehow they have Wonderland profiles of every human ever (which wouldn't really make much sense, now would it?  Why would they re-do the Wonderland profiles at Camp Haven?).  Cassie may come across the computer and see all of the profiles throughout the ages.... it's a long shot.  Like a half court shot.

Here's an even crazier option, option D:

     D) Cassie finds Wonderland profiles of all the Others who were impersonating humans and she sees this large collection of not-humans as an "infinite sea".  Another long shot.  Like a full court shot.

So we have some legitimate options and some really crazy ones.  So what do you think?  Leave your ideas in the comments section below

Although I still do stand by my first idea on what the title means, in one of my earlier posts,... you never know.

Predictions for "The Infinite Sea"

With the release of the second book almost a month away, I thought it would be a good time to make some predictions about the story.  *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*  Don't read if you want the book to be a complete surprise!

1) There will most likely be a fight between Cassie and Ringer.  Even at the end of the first book, Cassie had some animosity towards her.

2) The mother-ship left towards a larger base that will end up being a huge factor in this book.  Either that or they are deploying the rest of the kids in crucial areas.

3) There will be a sixth wave, possibly on a global scale.  Based on the title and cover art, I feel like water (duh) may be involved, although as stated in my previous posts, the "infinite sea" could be a metaphor.  But for example, the Others could heat up the atmosphere and melt all of the polar ice caps.  This could be catastrophic for the crew (Cassie, Ben, Ringer, Sammy, Dumbo ect.).  Not only would this once again increase the sea level, but temperatures would also rise.

4) Evan will return changed.  Much like the Hunger Games, I feel like Evan could be comparable to Peeta and *SPOILER ALERT* may actually be turned against the "good" side, much like how Peeta was brainwashed in Mockingjay.  I don't really have any evidence to support this but it is sort of a gut feeling I have.

5) We will learn more about the Others.  So much about them is currently unknown and I think we all are hoping for some answers.

6) There are other species of aliens involved.  Also another gut instinct.  Based on my experience with books of this nature, the antagonists generally are not working alone and this usually comes as a shock to the protagonists.  The antagonists are part of a larger picture.

7) The book will end on a cliffhanger.  If this series ends up as a trilogy, the second installment usually ends on a massive, point-of-no-return cliffhanger.

8) Sammy turns against Cassie.  Another gut instinct.  He will put more of his trust in Ben or Ringer.

9) Another member of the crew will die.  My money is on Poundcake.  However, before he passes, I think we will find out a bit more about his past.

10) The crew will find another group of survivors, real survivors.

That's it for now!  Thanks for reading!  Let me know what your predictions are in the comments!

The 5th Wave Movie

This is also old news at this point but I am putting this up here for organization's sake.

The 5th Wave has gotten a page on IMBD (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2304933/) and based off of some sleuthing I did, it looks like we may have a movie on our hands!

I'm not exactly sure what to think about the cast.  I do like the casting for Evan and Ben, but I would have rather had an up-and-coming actress for Cassie.  I feel like this would've given the movie some more originality and not just another Hollywood blockbuster.  However, I will reserve judgement until after the movie comes out.

It is also speculated that the movie will be rated R for language and violence.  I personally hope that it will be toned down to PG-13 because rating it as R seriously limits how many readers will be able to see the movie when it comes out.  That's all for now; more updates as them come.

Cover Release for The Infinite Sea

This is old news at this point but the cover for The Infinite Sea has been released!

From Goodreads.com
Based on what I am sea-ing, it looks like a lighthouse is prominent in the middle.  The circular design near the top seems to be ships or an orbit pattern that is centered around a city.  Water is also featured.

I'm not exactly sure what this means for the plot but I think this may indicate another disaster of wave-like proportions.  We already had a wave that flooded the coastal cities, so another flood seems redundant.  At this point it's hard to say what this means.  However, I have a nagging suspicion that the Others may seize control of the climate (melting the glaciers and ice caps?).  The "Sea" may not even be an actual sea; more likely it is a metaphor.
